Menu C MREs for sale on eBay
I wanted to throw a quick summary on this thread for anyone who might not have wanted to wade through all 9 pages of it.
This is what we've learned about these new "Menu C" MREs:
1. These MREs are contract manufactured for MREDepot, and although they are forbidden under the terms of their agreement to say by who, they can tell us that the company is a current military supplier.
2. These MREs include 100% real military items - nothing is aftermarket or commercial, right down to the accessory packs, spoons, and Tabasco bottles.
3. They actually average a lot more calories per meal than real military MREs - between 1600 and 1800 calories per meal in most cases.
4. They are legal to sell because they have never been government property at any time.
5. While these MREs might look similar to military MREs, the packaging was differentiated slightly on purpose in order to make the manufacturer comfortable with them being different enough from military packing as to avoid any confusion. These changes are most noticeable in the soldier logo, absence of the US Govt Property disclaimer, and in the use of different fonts.
You can currently find these MREs for sale on eBay in Steve's store or at Oddball's site: http://www.mredirect.us/ (select the 2007/2008 MREs - these are the Menu C MREs).

Okay, I just opened a C menu so I've got a pic for ya'll. Oh noes! A dreaded fig bar! J/K! I guess it could have been a nutrigrain bar.
I was worried about these not having side dishes but since they have all these other goodies, it's easy to ignore. Put better; I like variety more than I like a side and one snack. Thanks Steven, I really appreciate these bad boys.

Well, the fig bar was sort of a lame inside joke, the bakers dozen cases I had each either had a nutrigrain bar in them, or a fig bar.. as much as I'll eat a few fig newtons here and there, I'm not the biggest fan. My grandparents always tried to feed them to us when I was a kid and I just developed an aversion to the flavor.. so I can only eat them once in a great while. I miss the strawberry cheesecake ones that they were making for a while, those were the shizzle.
