Anyone know what firearm this is?

Post by w00811 » Tue Jan 16, 2007 1:57 pm

Hello guys,

I was reading a news article here in the UK, and I wondered if I could tap into peoples' firearms knowledge. Anyone Know what the guy in the pic is wielding? I have not seen anything quite like it.

Cheers,

Looks like it's a Heckler & Koch MP7:

Looks like a cool little gun (it's billed as a personal defense weapon). It has the same action as the G36 and fires s specially designed armour-piercing round.

I found an article on the introduction of the new weapon to the MoD Police here:

I was just thinking that this sounded like a competitor to the FN P90 when I saw this quote in the wikipedia article:
The MP7 is marketed as a direct competitor to the FN P90. Some observers make the distinction that the MP7 is closer to a true machine pistol than a submachine gun. The FN P90 features a simpler delayed blowback design that fires with a closed breech, so there is no rotating bolt or gas system, but it is bulkier and heavier than the MP7.

Thanks for the info Kman, very interesting. It is very duturistic looking! its quite unusual for a scope to be mounted on a PDW as in the picture.
