It's SPAM's 70th birthday. Check out www.spam.com/seventy
They're putting out a limited edition t-shirt. It takes $3.00 s&h, plus 3 Spam UPC codes. It comes in L and XL.
Address is: Spam 70th t-shirt offer
P.O. Box 1125
Grand Rapids, MN 55745

It's a fairly cool retro t-shirt.

I like to see them open up one of their cans from 70 years ago and see how the spam held up. Yum...spam from 1937!

It probably would taste exactly the same.

I like SPAM. But my cardiologist doesn't.

Spam is one of the best things for the civillian market..
Some folks won't eat MRE's but they will eat Spam..
And if your really starving then Spam is the best thing in the world.

I checked out the website and found that there are some unique spam varities..
I will have to find them now..
My Spam quest begins..

Locally, we have the low sodium and regular spam..
I found in Nevada the Spam with bacon..
In Hawaii I found the Hot and Spicy.

Now I must search for the Garlic and Honey Ham, and cheese one..

I love spam with some rice and a fried egg..and lots of hot sauce like Texas Petes..

Where are you located? Some of the SPAM varieties are in the national chain stores like Albertsons, Safeway, Kroegers, etc. Additionally you can sometimes find some of the more obsure varieties in stores that specialize in overuns and distressed merchandise (e.g. Big Lots), and on the West Coast we have a chain called Grocery Outlet that seems to carry all sorts of obsure SPAM items from time to time (as well as items past their Best By dates.)

Hormel's online SPAM store has all of the SPAM varieties and SPAM related products available, but they're generally much higher priced than what you can find in stores and their shipping charges are a bit on the high side.

I was in a Big Lots last weekend and they actually had the Spam Singles. But even at $0.50 per package, that was still kind of pricey seeing as I can get a full can (yum!) for $2-$3.

They're 60¢ at our Big Lots stores. Kinda wished that I still commuted to the Queen City ;)

If they're 50¢ per package out your way, I don't understand why paying $2-3 for a can of SPAM would be advantageous? The SPAM Singles are 3oz packages, so if you bought 4 of them for $2 you would theoretically have the same amount of SPAM in the 12oz can that you paid $2 for. If you're paying $3 for a can of SPAM then the Singles would be about 1/3 less than the can.

BTW, Wal*Mart is selling 2 packs of anniversary Classic SPAM for $3.58.

Good point about the pricing.

I'm a fan of eating spam right out of the can (with hot sauce, of course). As much as like eating MRE entrees right out of the retort pack, it's just not the same with spam with all the cutting/chopping you have to do to break off a piece to eat.

I like SPAM pan fried with a nice salty crust. Not a big fan of it uncooked, but I'll eat it that way if I have to, God knows I ate enough of it straight from a can. Would go well with an MRE entree or one of those retort packages of rice from the Asian stores.

I've bought a bunch of those singles for my emergency supplies. But if I'm at home, I prefer the luxury of opening a can and having an even larger portion, though like rjmeylan it would be contrary to the advice of my physician as well

I'm in California..

I would appreciate it if any of you here in the US come across any of the Honey Spam and the Garlic and the one with Cheese..
Give me a shout..
I'd gladly send you the money to pick up a few cans for me..

I've managed to get my wife and 4 year old into eating spam..
My son loves it in his Ramen..
Wife likes it fried with some eggs for breakfast..
I'd eat it by itself..

Thanks
Larry
