Tank sheet´s 1985

I was visiting jubifahrer today (Hagen, I placed your rations there... ). So he opend a 1985 Hartkeks (German EPa cracker) for that special event.

Everything as good as 22 years ago....



and still delicious



The Hartkeks is lovely called "tank sheet´s" at the Bundeswehr...

That almost sounds like the English verison of "hard tack", which is a similar kind of hard, dry biscuit.

yes, when I was in the French army a few (!) years ago they were called "pain de guerre" ("war bread") but the old French hard tacks were harder than anything I've eaten in my life!

Once, I've put a piece of the old "pain de guerre" in my mouth at 8 AM, I've kept it there just like a tobacco quid until 11AM before it started to melt

Generally, I used to bring it home for my rabbits or to give the full box to a farmer for his pigs and get some milk or eggs as a counterpart

Now, the biscuits in the RCIR are very similar to those in the other
European rations.
The Hartkeks are not bad (including the 1980’s ones that I remember) but my favorites are the "Brown Biscuits" in the British packs.

You are right, the Brown Biscuits absolutly delicious.
Not sweet nor salty, seems like "malt" or anything similar like this

helo ration people!
i have lots of british brown biscuits and fruit biscuits
if someone wants to trade. i also have tons of british turkey and
chicken pate. and not forget loads of other items from
the british rations.
im looking for old and new stock mres and mci/c-rats
or other interesting rations or us army gear.
