New hash brown MRE

Post by Seth711 » Thu Aug 31, 2017 7:17 pm

Who all has tried it? And how was it? It came out right after I got out. My buddy is supposed to send me one, but he's in Afghanistan for a couple more months.

Really just curious on everyone's thoughts!

I picked one up the other day at the commissary, but haven't eaten it yet. I think it's a 2015, but Wornick doesn't date imprint the bags.

Do you mean "Hash Brown Potatoes with Bacon, Peppers, and Onions"?

I've had the entree only, and believe that someone else here has as well as I pointed out where to order it a while back.

Mine had date code 5087, so 2015 sounds right.

I was very excited at the possibility of this being a great companion to some quick scrambled eggs for an easy breakfast or snack. The entrée was mostly potatoes, sadly lacking in bacon (both quantity and flavor). Onion seemed to be dominant flavor, which was not well-balanced despite having diverse ingredients. Easily edible but not fantastic.

Yes! I apologize, I'm new too the board, and ration talk. I've eaten hundreds of MRE's, but never really put much thought into it, or wording it correctly.

And that's kind of a bummer, I had super high hopes for it!
