Rarity of candy in B-3A MCI 1970

Post by Sethmjesmer »

I just bought my first B-3A ration from 1970 and it came with a chocolate covered vanilla cream cookie. I thought this would be a odd item to have in the heat in Vietnam. I was just wondering if anyone else might know more on how common this candy option is for these rations. Thanks for any info you may have to share!

In my opinion this cookie is a cool item that represents a interesting snack concept used in the MCI's- (cookies wrapped in wax, then packed in a can!) However, I am not sure we can call this item rare, as these cookies were included in all B-3A units from a particular production year. There are also other types of cookies & fudge bars too. I am also not sure exactly how desirable this item is, from a collectors standpoint it would be desirable for display, however some purists place more value in these cans unopened. So you know, I am about 99.9% sure this cookies is inedible sadly.... for me personally that is where I would place its value, on being edible or not!
