Carbohydrate Electrolyte Beverage Powder Orange Flavor

Post by housil »

Not really a review, more a question.

Today I did a nice bicycle tour of 30km.

Usually I have a bottle with "Coolaid" (or Walmart brand) with me. Today I took three pouches of Carbohydrate Electrolyte Beverage Powder Orange Flavor with me.

Is it only to me, or do they have an awefull taste like salt mixed with soap?! Image

Lol! Yes, they do have an odd taste. To me is like salt mixed with some "bitter" aftertaste. But yes it does take some getting used to...
it is what it is....

I like the taste  I never thought of them as soapy, but yeah - they're definitely salty. The salt's what's helping you retain water (as I'm sure you're already aware).

I think most of the drink mixes are awful, the exceptions being the small ones intended for use in bottle water. Leave it to the US Army to come up with drink powders that won't dissolve, taste like soap, look like a leak at a nuclear power plant - or all three. All they'd have to do would be buy single-serving packets from commercial sources. Like they do with candy.

I never drink these beverage powders that come in the MRE's... Just stick with plain old water!

I enjoy the beverage powders
Then again, I find some of the most bland menus to be delicious.
Good luck and may your rations stay unspoiled!

I'm the opposite. I don't drink soda, and haven't really had Kool Aid since I was young with any regularity, so I usually don't drink the normal beverage base powders. Too sweet. The carbo ones I save for when I'm camping/hiking/etc and drink those instead of buying Gatorade.
