My friend and Moderator Housil was so kind as to send me a variety of made in Germany shelf stable.
I enjoy camping, hiking and canoe trip so good bread is always welcome.
First open the package and ate one section. This I found was quite delicious, the ground grain was clearly visible. The texture was extremely dense. None of the variety I have sampled so far has been sweet in the American sense. The Rye flavor was my favorite, very hearty and strong taste of yeast. This type I pair with some Croatian type canned Beef lunch meat obtained at the local international store. It was perfect for a filling lunch that took up little space. The other types were flax seed and sunflower seed. These went well with cheese and apple jam.

This bread would work very well as a breakfast component. You could eat it stand alone with coffee or hot tea and as mentioned with jam or cheese.
The other heavier bread would work as a mid day meal with either cheese of canned meat products. I still have the sealed can to open and try on a trip. This may be used with Russian Vegetable caviar or Eastern European salmon pate.
This is a very good product and I will give it high marks for the hiker, hunter, fisherman, boater or motorized camper.
Thank you again Housil and all your famous German bakers :D . Also the canned beef was outstanding not to greasy and no bits of bone or other unwanted items. Just good beef :D

I´m relieved you got it safe and sound and you liked it :D

So "yes", German bread is not "sweet" as you know it from American bread and it´s not "fluffy".

Once you eat it, please share the picure(s). It´s from the company that also makes the EPa canned bread (170g) but that one I sent you is 250g

Thank you for these pictures and your review!

Bobby great topic I have several different fine 'All American beers' I use for outdoor activities depending on the season and climate The Miller High Life is sort of my Tropical Beer for hot weather. You don't even need a can opener, they got these new pop tops that take care of all that for you :D
This Schlitz is better for cold weather, National Bohemian is great for Spring

Nice photos of your trip! It looked like a grand time. As for the bread, I think my local super market carries that stuff :)

And how was the Croatian canned beef? In another thread before had somebody cooked up a can of Croatian goulash on a tortilla. If I didn't have tinnitus I would happily pick a can of some of that stuff.
