I have the chance to buy some of these from a local seller, but want to know exactly what they are. I did a lot of searching online but do not know for sure.
These are loose and not in cases, so I do not have the outer box to refer to.
1) These meals are in clear bags, labeled "Meal, Individual". Date code stamped on the bags is 2XXX; individual components inside are mostly 1XXX and 2XXX. What year did Sopakco start using this bag design? Could these be from 2002, or more likely 2012?
2) I can see the spoon inside of most of the meals, and it is white. I found conflicting info online, with some sources saying the white spoon is the latest, while others say that Sopakco changed to the regular brown GI MRE spoons for their newest meals. Does anyone know?
3) Some of the meals are of the low sodium variety. The entrees inside of those appear to lack the nutritional info printed on the back of the box, which makes me think they are not close to the GI equivalent. I can not find much information on that online. Comments?
Sopakco civilian meal questions
Re: Sopakco civilian meal questions
I been having issues finding out about Sopacko MREs as well. Do they come in a 12 pack or 14 pack? According to MRE info the 12 pack crates should come with brown GI spoons.
Good luck and may your rations stay unspoiled!
Re: Sopakco civilian meal questions
The LS meals are a govt contract meal, and are definately recent production.
The others....honestly, you are better off going by menu. Go to their main site, look at available menus, and see if they match up. That should cover most of the timeline you are asking about. Frankly, I think its all new run, but... overall, use your senses. If in doubt, toss it out.

Re: Sopakco civilian meal questions
14pks are the stripped down govt contract ones. Sure-paks always come in a 12pk, 6 menus with 2 of each menu. Quickest test, look for coffee. No coffee, contract pack.FREMONT wrote:I been having issues finding out about Sopacko MREs as well. Do they come in a 12 pack or 14 pack?
