I decided to break my long drought of reviews. By reviewing a Valley Food Systems shelf stable meal. I would imagine most forum members have encountered the items within. In one form or another. I would be glad to answer any questions about any unknown contents. Enjoy!

so from what I understand, this is what's been showing up in a lot of commissarys in place of what we would have called a "box lunch" and is supposed to be a step up from a TOTM, correct?

I suppose it could be a step up from a TOTM. From what I have read. It is used for disaster relief, forestry, military, and other uses or agencies. Basically, anyone that has a need for a meal kit. Doesn't require special handling or storage. Usually they sell by the pallet. This was an Ebay find.

Often referred to as a "Jimmy Dean'; they must have been a contractor at some point. Only time I've ever gotten one was on a Mil-Air flight. Box and/or sack lunches are usually prepared fresh from a kitchen, containing your standard sandwich and fruit, etc.
