New Dutch ration

Post by housil » Wed Dec 30, 2015 4:13 pm

We had these Dutch rations in a cardboard box before.

Now I got a case (25lbs) of 10 new style Dutch rations breakfast/lunch

The open case:

now these rations come in a ziploc plastic bag

The content of a bag

still no entrees with the rations.

You know these crackers from the British rations
HN5.jpg
Pates
HN6.jpg
"Mediterranean vegetable pate"
"Fish (mackerel) pate"
2 x "Liver pate" (I *really* like!)

Soups
HN7.jpg
One of each "beef", "tomato" and a "curry" soup

Pouches for
HN8.jpg
2 tea bags
2 x coffee
2 x creamer
Accessoire bag

HN9.jpg
2 x cocoa
beverage
chocolate
tissues
HN10.jpg
Jam and marmalade
Gum

The accessoire bag in detail
HN11.jpg
"Mentos" and some dextrose
4 x sugar
2 x tooth pics
peper
"Sambal" hot sauce
Salt
Matches in an extra ziploc

To me, lot´s of commercial pates, jams, etc some coffee, tea. Nothing that makes it special military. The biggest drawback is, they are no entrees with these rations so I wouldn´t call them "rations". The only "food" that comes with these rations are three packages of crackers where you can spread all the pates, jam etc on it.
Soup´s are a nice idea, but "cooking" a soup in the field is always "impractical" and not very filling. It´s OK in cold climates to warm you up.

Very Interesting look into what the Dutch rations are like.

Not big on Mackerel, but I'll bet that Mediterranean pate is out of this world.

Good old Biscuit Browns...only had them once, but once was enough to get me hooked. ;)

Great pics, and great detail. awesome review. :)

I love the liver pate' in the Dutch Ration. Very nice find, Housil - this whole thing looks fantastic. The chocolate, cocoa beverage, dextrose tabs, and really everything in this Ration are beloved memories of the one i had over 2 years ago.

I've got one of those sitting on my self that my friend Rogier sent me. I have always been perplexed why the mains are in another box or distributed separately. I just assumed it was cheaper to pack things in one bag. Then again you know what they say if you assume...lol

Ah so that's what they look like. The ones I saw on the UK Surplus store looked totally different in a silver bag. Glad I didn't pull the trigger on them. How many of those things come in a case?? Willing to part with 2? I have one of the new plastic bag rations with no mains.
