2007 Beef Ravioli

Post by rattattoo »

Sorry, no photos.

I have been chowing my way through those additional four 2007-'08-'09 cases that my son-in-law left when they moved to Texas. I went ahead and completely unbagged/unpacked all of the meals from an 07 "A" menu. Cherry picked the whole lot, and I plan on giving all of the extras [and a whole lot of my other old extras] to a friend of mine's Boy Scout troop. They are like Mikey... They'll eat anything.

I tried out the beef ravioli for lunch today. It was reasonably good. Like most of the meals it was on a par with the canned stuff. The thing that was interesting was that these were "kids sized" ravioli... not the standard Chef Boyardee-size, and they also had the little pebbles of processed/deprocessed/reprocessed/reformed "beef" product. I chased it with some Ritz crackers and a soda, and it made for fairly substantial and nutritious lunch.

The freshness circles on all four of these cases are still two colored, and they have been stored in a relatively cool cellar. It's nice to know that the shelf life remains pretty much what is represented.
One of these mornings I may get up the nerve to try the veggie omelette. Has anybody risked one of those recently?

Anyway, like the clam chowder… Not bad and Not dead yet.

Missed this when you posted it. Last 08 veggie omelet that I've had was within the last year. I have a few more and wouldn't worry too much about them going bad just yet. Glad to see someone else likes those things. As for the ravioli - that's one of the ones I've run into for sale in bulk (epicenter I think). I got a dozen of just that entree if not more and got a little burned out on them. It's been a while now though so I'm sure I'd go back to loving them again.

We did a hike with the kids to a 15th century castle ruin yesterday.

I brought a German EPa entree (Currywurst)but also a 2007 Beef Ravioli MRE with me.

Mrs Housil ate the vegetables crackers w/ jalapenos cheese before I got a chance to take a picture of

The apple sauce

Great in taste and texture

The ravioli, after 20 min in the (salted FRH)

"OK" and "lukewarm". I ate it this "cold" and they seemed "OK" to me. No odd smell nor taste.

How was the coffee? First to note, the Tabasco bottle was still OK with the liquid still inside. So the (commercial) coffee also didn´t get molded

But the creamer clogged. Obviously I used too hot water... :(

So even after 10 years of storage, it´s still OK!

I ate a cheese and veggie omelette this year from 2007. It wasn't my favorite entrée but it was still edible, have some hot sauce handy. The beef ravioli was ok but seemed a little dry.
