So I decided to open one of the IMP's I received recently and give it a try. I was very excited because I've heard a lot about the IMP but they're incredibly hard to get hold of in Australia, as you would imagine. This one had chicken pesto past as the main meal, tortillas, cherry blueberry dessert, chocolate bar (kitkat), two peanut butter sachets, an orange pinapple beverage power, coffee, ginger tea, gum, sweet and matches. Not sure what the manufacture date was but it was pretty fresh. No FRH with this even though the meal needed to be heated according to the instructions. Although after eating it heated, I think it could pass as a cold meal with no problem.

Okay on with the review. First a picture of the un-opened ration:

After opening with contents spread out. As you can see its all from the Wornick Company

Today I decided to mix the beverage powder and give it a try. I usually just throw the beverage powders away. Not really a fan. This one was okay, not too sweet but also not my kind of flavour either> Each to their own I suppose :D

I made on of the tortillas into a peanut butter sandwich while I was waiting for the meal to heat up. Not bad. Tortilla was fresh and soft and had a nice flavour. After 5 minutes I removed the meal from the pouch:

The meal had a nice pesto flavour to eat. Not too strong. Chicken portions were pretty big and juicy. There was plenty of gravy and I used my last tortilla as a scoop to eat with. I was impressed by the size of the meal too. It felt like there was more than what you would get out of an MRE main meal. Only downside to this that I can think of is that the flavour would not be to everyones taste. If you like pesto, you'll love this otherwise it may be a strange tasting.

Okay, the dessert.

When I first saw this I thought it was a berry puree. Well it sorta is but there's also sponge finger biscuits in it which adds a bit of texture to it. Again, it was pretty good. The Kit Kat chocolate was in perfect condition with no sign of any oxidation.

Overall this was a really good meal and I was really full afterwards.

10/10 would eat again :D

I'm pretty sure with the imps that the number below the name is the year it was manufactured. In this case 2010.

There isn't an FRH included with IMPs. I'm often tempted to light the bag and box on fire, see if that produces enough heat for the entree.
