So, now that Hunting Weekend #1 is over, I can come back and start working on everything I put off getting ready. Therefore, here comes the reviews...

I decided to start with the accessories and BrewKit. So, here we go... :D

Coffee, sugar, and creamer..

Image

coffee, seems to be real granular instead of powdery like MRE instant.

Image

Not bad, kinda strong, and whitener didn't fully dissolve..

Image

White tea, instant

Image

Image

weak, no real taste, nothing to really compare it to. :?

Image

Boiled sweets...one red, one yellow, the rest kinda brown...I'm guessing either orange or lime due to the citrusy flavor.

Image

Image

KoolGum....spearmint chicklets, what else can be said... :|

Image

Golden bar....chewy, mild sweetness, not a heavy oat flavor. Kinda pleasant, only downside was texture was kinda, for lack of a better term...waxy..

Image

Mild milk chocolate. not bad, but i'm more of a dark chocolate kinda guy. Middle of the road, nothing to write home about.

Image

Berry fruit grains....strong fruit smell, taste wavers between strawberry and raspberry to me..

Image

Biscuit, Browns....not bad, hint of sweetness, good crumb.

Image

Yes, I tried the Yeast Extract. :D Not bad, pleasant Umami flavor starts off with a beery bitterness at the end.

Image

And I cheated, ate the rest of the Browns with some MRE Cheddar Cheese spread for the rest of my lunch. Not bad, a good filling nosh.

So ends part 2, covering the BrewKit and accessories. Next we cover the entrees...

Yeah, great pictures!
And golden oats bar has that waxy mouth-feel. Still it`s quite edible.

Cool review and pics elandil! When I served in SW Asia in 1990-91, I recall meeting some UK medical troops who absolutely detested the tea in their rations. They said it was basically a mix of tea, whitener, and sugar, but it would never mix properly and always had an aftertaste. Did you notice if the tea had any kind of aftertaste? I'm wondering if it may be an updated version of the WW2 comp tea ration (updated because as far as I know there were no artificial sweeteners in WW2). It was the first time that I recall meeting any UK troops who hated tea, but they sure loved our MRE coffee and dry creamer, especially how easily it mixed. :D

Very nice job. Good to see a thorough review of the often-downplayed side items.

Great review! The British 24-hr ration packs are high on my list to try someday if I can get ahold of one or two of them.
