Today I tried an EPa like dish "Putenmedaillons". It´s made by the company that also produce the EPa entrees.

The well known container but with colored sleeve.

Contrary to the military containers, you can pull the lid open at the civilian one´s.

My very first impression was "Yuck"...

After stir and warming up, it looked MUCH better!

NIce, solid vegetables (potatoes, peas and carrots) and very tender turkey chunks with a "sweet" creme taste.

I liked it.

I wonder if this taste's similar to "Turkey a la King"? On a similar note in the US we love our Chicken Ala King, as it can be noted that that menu was included in the older MRE, RCW's and something similar with the UGR "Chicken Pot Pie Filling"

I remember Chicken a la King very well from the rations back in the 80s :D

This dish is different, these were two "medallions" of turkey.

Now that looks like a meal for my needs for sure!
I assume you could drop the tin in hot water and it ready in the field with little trouble
Always looking for variety

Thanks

If they had those with Spätzle I'd buy them by the case! Used to eat it with a light brown sauce every time I ate in the Bundeswehr Unteroffizier Club in Pfullendorf in the 90's. Cheers

Do you know how to make "Spätzle" at home if you like them this much?

I've tried it a few times and have went to places that specialize in German food and it's just not the same. Then again, maybe all the beer I drank prior to the meal enhanced the taste lol. Still miss good authentic food in Deutschland.

We allways make "Spätzle" by our own at home.
It´s pretty easy :D

All you need is 500g (1.1 lbs) sieved flour, 8 eggs, 20 g salt (0.71 ounce) 100 ml (3.38 fluid ounce) water.

Mix it to a batter.

Scratch the "Spätzle" from a cutting board into boiling salted water

if you don´t have a "Spätzlepresse"

Thanks for the recipe Olli...
By the way gundog, if you have an ALDI store near you, you can get them during the time of Oktoberfest.
At least here in OK they carry it as a seasonal item during the Fall.
