T-RATION CALCULATOR August 1989

Post by mreheater72 » Wed Dec 11, 2013 3:22 pm

Hi guys,

today I want to show a very nice collectable :D : A so-called T-RATION CALCULATOR dated August 1989.

I will not write many words, I guess the following photos are self-explaining, so you can see for which reason it was "designed":

It was a "tool" made in times in which computers were not common :) !

Very cool, not to mention idiot-proof! It kinda reminds me of the old-style, cold war era fallout calculators that we had to learn to use in NBC school.

cold war era fallout calculators
They still use them + various older GTA's (Graphic Training Aids)!

Well cavguy, the GTA's werepretty much EMP/TREE and IDIOT proof, as opposed to some of the fancy electronic stuff they have now. As for the T-Ration calculator, I'm not sure that it was designed to take into consideration folks wanting "seconds"-----a few of those entrees actually tasted good!

wow! cool mreheater,

I also like the menu list (allthough incomplete, but it shows the odd ones) on the back of the calculator.
Now we know what to look for if one wants to complete the old t-rat's "collectionwise" :D

The lasagne and the swedish meatballs sounds yummie

I had the Lasagna in 2003, it was in the metal container too (If I remember right?!) It was a guard unit that was hosting an event so they had the older metal trays vs the plastic trays. It tasted like crap to me, the cheese was very odd to say the least also the noodles were odd too they always have a weird after taste to me.

Don't feel bad cavguy! The Lasagna and some of the other T-Rats were what we called an "aquired taste" and many of us never aquired the taste for them. My favorites were the chicken entrees except for the cacciatore, but the beef entrees always had a funny sort of greasy aftertaste. Of course if anyone ever got a look at the sodium content in them, the calculator would have had to be modified for reccomended daily allowance of sodium!
