Rations In Paris

Post by JeffPlant »

Hello MreInfo! I have been following and reading this site for many years now but have only just joined officially!
I really enjoy the reviews of all the rations, especially the old MCI's that are almost as old as I am
I will soon be travelling to Paris, France (in August) and was wondering if anyone had any contacts for French RCIRs I can purchase while I am there? It would be great to get some 'different' rations, I have only ever tried MRE's
Thanks all in advance :D

Thank you!
I am originally from Australia, but studied and am working in Cape Town, South Africa.
France will be a holiday :D
Currently the MREs we get are imported by a local company but at a very steep premium ~12.5EUR / $16.5 so a bit of a luxury!

That´s pretty pricey indeed. I´m sorry but Paris is a +6 hrs drive from here...

Not to worry, that is a little bit far!
For the members who regularly use ebay, Would ebay deliver to a hotel address? I assume it would be cheaper to use French /German ebay and try translate?

Usually the seller/sender send it to any address you sign in.

I would ask the hotel how to address the package, so they would hold it for you.
I would also expect the hotel to charge a small fee for doing so.

Welcome indeed JeffPlant! Have you had a chance to try any South African military rations? Although I may be wandering off topic here (rationtin wandering off topic?  ) one interesting thing I noticed about the South African rations is that they have some provision for soldiers with diabetes. Unless I'm mistaken they're the only military which does.

Thanks for the advice - I have never purchased from ebay so I appreciate the good tips!
Can anyone advise what shipping would cost within the EU area? perhaps I can purchase some rations off any EU forum members? (at a premium of course  )

The only one I ever found was on this local version of ebay - unfortunately it had already been sold :(
here is the link http://www.bidorbuy.co.za/item/19553782 ... _Pack.html - scroll to the bottom of the page for the pictures. I am not sure how to post pictures?

EDIT: I re-looked and found some SANDF (south African Defense force) Rations for sale :D will purchase a couple ASAP

Postage differs from country to country...
e.g. Germany -> France 5kg = €17

The first one is for free...

Once you got them, let me know. We can do a trade when you are in Paris so no need to trust somebody from ebay and pay their fees
