Oh yes, that's the same I had some 20 years ago! My dad gave it to the neighbors' son for a weekend in a scout camp and I never saw it back :x
That's the Tatou eating knife sold in all the French "foyer du soldat" (PX) http://www.couteautatou.com/
Same use as the German BW Besteck http://www.asmc.de/images/product_image ... 5202_0.jpg or its US cousin.
The issued set does not lock together and makes a strong rattling noise in the backpack if you don't wrap every piece into a separate napkin.

Thought I'd update this post with a warning.

ABSOLUTELY AVOID THE RIP-OFF VERSIONS!

I purchased one recently, tried to open a bottle of wine with it and the cork screw was ripped out of the plastic body.

Anyone know where to get the genuine french knife? I'm interested to see how it is.

Hi,
it seems that 90% of those sold on the Net (and on markets) is now Chinese crap.
The real "Tatou" knife was always rather expensive but now the price is crazy!

Note that it's got no cork screw...

From what I've seen, the Chinese haven't yet figured out how to stamp Bivouac Inox France on the blade.

This seems to be one of the only retailers in North America that sells them.
