Not sure what you mean by "Ration packet E", but there was a variation on the C ration that was used briefly after WWII (1946-1948) that was called Field Ration Type E. Is this what you are referring to?

Im not even imaging we could be so lucky
There is no chocolate bar in the E ration, only a 1.8 oz chocolate disc in one of the B units.
Does your ration have 6 tins and an accessory packet?
Im assuming its some kind of early Individual trail frigid or assault food packet item we have here.
In any event it sounds very interesting.
Please please post a description, if you cant do a pic.

This is the components and packaging of the E ration

- From the march 1947 E ration evaluation test report
This report killed the E ration. The bread component was so bad no one in the test would use it, causing the calorie intake to crash. It was tested against C ration (improved 1945) and improved 5 in 1.
The test troops much preferred the C ration and this was bulked up and redesignated C2 ration, from 1949 and subsequent changes up to C10, when it was replaced by the MCI Meal, Combat, Individual in 1958.
Its very rare.

There was an E accessory packet in the very earliest 1981-5 MREs too. It had sometimes a chocolate covered fudge bar in it.
This could be another possibility.
