. I was considering buying some #10 cans, but wanted to see what this stuff really looks like and tastes like.
It had a good smell and I tried to keep little water in it to check the taste. Taste was okay but could of used
a little more flavor. I added a lot of salt to it. The rice got soft after 5 minutes, the chicken did taste like
real chicken, but more chicken would of been nice!

the packaging reminds me very hard to a european producer of freeze dried food.

Mountain House is some of the best freeze dried around.
That said, F/D is not Gourmet by any defination! Its ok for a few days, but fresh is soo much better!
The # 10 cans should be looked at not as a source of daily food, but rather, 'Hey, this is waay better than being hungry!'
And yes, they do get stale after opening, but it takes quiet a while.
Use the plastic lids...
I have several cases of assorted #10's, and I hope I never have to use them, but you never know....

Your right! It says Rice and Chicken, NOT Rice and Chicken SOUP. It does look like I put too much water, I wanted a soup taste I guess.
Still have 2/3 of it left and will use the pouch when I make it and leave it covered up for a few minutes. Then is should look less soupy.
I assume the Dehydrated food needs lots of water, not the Freeze Dried. Eventually I wanted to buy a combo meat/vegs #10 cans for emergency, but also have another combo set to try out and see what they are like. I do see them on sale from time to time at Emergency Essentials and the Epiccenter. Locally I have seen Mountain House pouches at Academy Sporting Goods, but slightly higher price than where members here buy food.
The main problem I have here is the summer heat where it can easily hit 80 degrees inside the house. I had one room with a window unit running for the summer to keep the MRE's cooled - average about 70 degrees- and my bill certainly went up.
