2 FRH?

Post by Menu_9_Stew » Tue May 12, 2009 6:05 pm

Hi all! I was a lurker for a thousand years on this site and forum and now I have registered. I eat a new MRE every week because they are good and FREE. These are surplus menus of years past that make it to my mouth (unless it is that veggie cheese omelet).

Anyways, I have a question. I received a Menu_8 Beef Patty (from at least 2006 because of the beans in it and not the Mexican Mac) and it contained 2 FRH. Was that a lucky mistake or is that standard in this menu?

I thought so... just wanted to be sure. If that is the case I broke even because the first MRE I ever had was a Menu 9 Beef stew (hence my screen name) with no FRH! I felt cheated, now I feel compensated. :D

The final assembly of the MRE is done by hand, one of these, one of those...
If two stick together, in they go.

Winter MRE? One to thaw out the food, the second one to heat it up?

Actually, in response to britman, I was going to keep it for later to heat up my hash browns from my extra MRE (the omelet menu) and or heat up my western style beans for later; however, my supervisor ended up drinking a coffee and espresso mixture before our hike up the mountain (still do not know what he was thinking) and he dehydrated in the snowy cold at the top of the mountain. I ended up re hydrating the extra FRH with a vitamin water (nice and sticky) and gave it to him for a moral booster so that he could teater and lurch the rest of the way down the mountain. Later he said that he thought he was in a star trek movie. HE WAS SO DAMN DEHYDRATED!

Those FRH thingys are so useful.

Welcome to the forums, Menu_9_Stew. I'm a little late to the thread, but I'd agree with what the others said - it sounds like you got two stuck together. I've been perfectly my ability to heat up an entree and a side with a single FRH but if you get two in one pouch, that sure would make it easier.

Menu_9_Stew,
That happens, as others have said. An older MRE I had last week came with two spoons. That was much better than coming with no spoons. Mistakes happen, as do unusual substitutions. They are, however, rare.
