Plastic or metal tray?

Re: t-ration warming
I guess it all depends on the heat rating of that plastic tray. Does anyone have any idea how hot you can get the plastic? Anyone with trays want to find out?
(I just did my good deed for the day - went through two cases of MCIs that had all the fruit and entree cans leaking/exploded - what a disgusting mess! I'll post the pics in that MCI thread).

Re: t-ration warming
Not sure of the trays used for the T-Rats, but the plastic trays that are used in commercial food applications (like frozen foods in the U.S.) can generally be used in ovens up to 400ºF. The T-Rats that I've seen seem to have a sturdier plastic, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it will withstand the same temps. If one would like to heat them up in an oven, a safe method would probably be to put them in a roasting pan filled with an adequate amount of boiling water.
Update (edit) - Just checked the specs for the polymeric trays that are used for current UGRs. It specifically does indicate that the trays should not be heated in an oven. http://www.dscp.dla.mil/subs/support/specs/procure.asp
