broken ankle!
i was playing basketball about 2 months ago. i through the ball in the air high and was going to let it bounce off the ground then catch it and dunk it. well i did that just fine. was proud that at only six feet tall and 31 years old i was able to still dunk a basketball. the problem is when i came down awkwardly on one leg my ankle rolled over and broke. the first picture i took at the emergency room about 30 minutes after it happened. i drove myself to the hospital and hopped on one foot till they got me a wheelchair. the other three pictures were taken after the cast came off six weeks later. i am doing better day by day. but there was some ligament damage as well that may require surgery.

Ankle
I did the same thing while playing basketball. And my ankle looked the same way with tears all the way up my calf down to my foot -- both sides. Only I did not break the ankle I sprained it which they tell me is much more painful. Under those conditions it took a good many months to heal and longer for the skin to return to normal.
But I never got surgery. Nature did the trick and eventually after many many months healed it up.
Better to not let the doctor start cutting and let the ankle heal itself if you can avoid it.
The foot at times went numb but that eventually went away and elevating the foot helps keep the pain down from swelling.

Be carefull with broken bones in your ancle. It is a very delicate joint.
Hope you will be better soon.

i broke the same ankle about 15 years ago. it has hurt ever since. i am very active and it is driving me crazy not being able to get out and do stuff. i am getting better each day. i have a steel plate in my knee on my other leg and i have no cartiledge in that knee. i have the beginnings of arthritis in that leg. my surgeon told me to enjoy my mobility while i can. that as i age the arthritis will grow increasingly worse until it becomes unbearable. at which time they will do a knee replacement. so i am not looking forward to that. oh well life goes on. i just hate thinking that i may not get to enjoy playing basketball with my son like my dad did with me. my knee surgery was five years ago the first two years it felt good but it is beginning to get worse. the doctor told me it will happen whether i baby it or whether i really push it. so i had been doing really good till my ankle rolled over. from now i will be more careful and invest in a good brace.
