I wondered what the oldest MRE or other shelf-stable food you have eaten was. So i'm talking about the time between when the food was produced and when you ate it. How did it taste?
The oldest i have eaten is an Almond Poppy Seed Pound Cake dated 4038 on 8279 (6 october 2008). So that's 4 years and 9 months old. It tasted great! I'd say it was a tiny bit dryer but other than that still in perfect condition.
I'm guessing this will turn out to nothing when we hear what you all have eaten.

Hi,
an old MCI from the Viet Nam era (don't remember the date) but it was in the mid 80's , only 10 years after the end of the war.

My first MRE entree, eaten last year, was a pork one from 1997.
