I noticed some of the smaller side item boxes in my 2004 case have postcards on the back of them that you can cut out. Pretty neat idea! I read that the soldiers were using the back of the MRE entree and side boxes to write postcards home...but now they have the lines on there to make writing more easier. Be on the lookout for that on your MREs.

I've finally gotten one of these. It's from a 2004 meal (roast beef w/ vegetables), just as Dave said.
GI's in a combat zone get free postage on their outgoing letters. We simply wrote "FREE" where the stamp would go. It seems like every one of our guys has access to email over there, now, but these postcards are a nice gesture.

" Dear Mom and Dad...
I am currently in the sandbox and having to eat MRE pears. Please send real food or GPS co-ordinates for the nearest Pizza Hut.
Regards, your loving son"
