Sloppy Joe

I think this is the worst ides the mre folks ever came up with, since "Beef, with Spiced Sauce. Taste OK, and I know we got a few Italians out there. Bring back the Turkey Loaf with the Potatoes and Gravy.

Looks like a pain in the ass to eat. Maybe just break up the wheat snack bread, dump it in the sloppy joe mix, and stir it up is the best way to eat it.

Yea, great, but has anyone figured out what to do with the packet of gravel? Other than sucking up Oxygen. Will it burn, make fires, etc. :P

When I saw the title of this thread I assumed it would be a filled bread thing, similar to a pizza pocket. As it is I'm pretty sure I'd be eating that one with a spoon.

It looks really bright red to me, like strawberry jam (jelly) - is it just my monitor?

I think the extra-redness is just a color thing with that picture. The sloppy joes do have a lot of tomato in them, but I don't recall them being that red. Here's a pic from Long Life Food:

DangerousDave's picture looks more like the real thing with the exception of the color.

Is the Sloppy Joe really that bad? I was planning on eating exactly that menu tomorrow, but if it's 'Clam-chowder'-bad i dont want to bother opening it.

I don't think it's really "bad" - just kind of messy to eat. Here in the US, at least, we're used to eating sloppy joes on hamburger buns - like as a sandwich. But the MRE Sloppy Joe is kind of liquidy and the wheat snack bread isn't that great as a hamburger bun.

But give it a try and let us know how you like it!
