G.I. Beef Jerky(Bulls)

Post by DangerousDave » Tue Mar 25, 2008 10:13 pm

Uncle gets Combo's, M&M's, Red Hots, Nescafe etc. commercial products. Why can't they get a more common Beef Jerky, like Slim Jim, Jack Link brand, heck, even Eddie Gein brand from Wisconsin(LOL). Who makes Bulls brand? Contract pork barrel BS.

Funny that you should bring that up. I was in an Asian market the other day and what should I see in the frozen meat department but frozen *that* part of the bull.

Yeah, a lot of people think it's pretty good eating... and believe it has, er, other effects as well. Next time you're in an Asian store, try some Vietnamese beef jerky (thit bo kho) - not bad.

we have bulls brand beef jerky here in southwest virginia, northeast tennessee and honestly it is of the lowest quality among beef jerky makers. it is not solid strip it is pressed and formed which typically is the parts that are useless. just thought i would give my ten cents whichs is more than this jerky is worth.

I LOVE the chewy strip type jerky, but I find the pressed & formed stuff really soft & bland (reminds me of dog treats). When I lived in Newcastle, we had a local brand that was excellent, but I haven't been able to find it since I moved south. :(

Weird, found you completely by chance in another thread Baldy. :)

The best Aussie jerky I've tried was simply called Northern Territory jerky...I think. Came in simple clear and red/white packaging with a big-horn buffalo sillhouette on it. Jerky inside was uber-dry and incredibly tasty and chewy. Can't find it anywhere now, agree that the shredded and re-pressed sticks are just too disturbingly like a Shmackos. :P

Ah, find on the internet and ye shall receive. Looks like my fave jerky company's in business still http://www.territoryjerky.com.au/. I can feel an order coming on.
