SUBJECT: ES08-008; Deletion of Jalapeno Ketchup from MRE 27; ACR-M-027 and MRE 28, ACR-M-028

1. At the MRE Workshop, it was observed that one lot of Jalapeno Ketchup, produced by Boca Grande Foods, exhibited swollen packages. Microbiological testing revealed a high yeast count, which may accelerate spoilage.
2. Based on these results, a decision to delete Jalapeno Ketchup from the MRE 27 and MRE 28 menus was reached. In MRE 27, there will be no replacement item. In MRE 28, Menu 18 will now have a Barbecue Sauce.
3. ACR-M-027, Table I, delete:
“Ketchup, Flavored, Jalapeno, Medium
A-A-20346, Flavor V, Style B, Packaging Type 5”
Table II, Menu 5, delete: “Jalapeno ketchup”
4. ACR-M-028, Table I, delete:
“Ketchup, Flavored, Jalapeno, Medium
A-A-20346, Flavor V, Style B, Packaging Type 5”
Table II, Menu 18:
Delete: “Jalapeno ketchup” and sub “Barbecue sauce”.
5. These changes have been incorporated into the Meal, Ready-to-Eat (MRE), Assembly Requirements documents and Change 05, dated 1 Nov 07, for ACR-M-027, and Change 03, dated 1 Nov 07, for ACR-M-028, are attached.
Jalapeno Ketchup is OUT!
Jalapeno Ketchup is OUT!
In that same ACR update I mentioned in another thread, I also saw this notice about the Jalapeno Ketchup being discontinued completely because of spoilage concerns:
