Titie is Special Rations for the Armed Forces, put out by the Army Quartermaster General in 1958. Period covered is 1946-1953. Book covers C,K,D, E, 5-in-1, 10-in-1, and more. Book is 375 pages long. Lots of good information. Been looking for this for some time. Cost about $55, but book is in very good condition.

The Army Quartermaster museum has a large excerpt from that book on it’s website.

The material is from chapter 1 only. What’s in the rest of the book?

Book spends a lot of time on the various models of the C ration and the 5-in-1 ration. These were the main operational rations used during the Korean War. There's also good stuff on various types of rations used by pilots/aircrews and survival rations. Book gets into a lot of detail, with production statistics, cost figures, lists of component suppliers, problems with component production, etc.

Canned bread was mentioned a good deal. Was a little surprised, since the Army had a robust field bakery system in Korea. There was also discussion regarding kitchen spice packs and tobacco/candy/toiletries packs for those who couldn't get to a Post Exchange.

Greatly enjoyed reading the book. Not cheap, but was just glad to get it at all. Amazon may have it, used. Could also look on Abebooks, Got mine through Alibris. If you can find it believe you'll enjoy it.
