MREs on airplanes

Post by mrsidknee » Mon Jul 08, 2019 7:45 pm

I am currently on an out of town on a trip and I was really hoping to check out some local stores to see what I could find, mre/ration-wise. I figured I'd put them in my checked bag to bring them home. I checked out TSA rules and according to the TSA website, MREs are allowed both in checked and carry-on luggage. It does say that some airlines may restrict MREs from carry-on due to the FRH.

When I was booking my flight with Delta, I was really disappointed to find out that they do not allow MREs in checked OR carry-on bags. Does anyone have any ideas as to why this is? Any thoughts on work arounds? I def do not want to get kicked off my plane!

Thanks for your thoughts.

If you found 3 or 4 you had to have, just stop by a post office and send them home flat rate.
It beats going to get on plane and them telling you no way not happening.

Unless you have a specific reason not to, open the MRE pouch and dispose of the FRH. The FRH is the sole reason for Delta's prohibition.
