Steamed pork got the USDA stamp of approval? Interesting and confusing. Maybe something to do with steam prep?

Pork can be allowed. It depends on what country it's coming from and USDA's discretion. When I imported Russian rations, I was told even before I met with an agent that if they were only pork products - I could keep them. It's the beef products (including sweetened condensed milk) that they won't allow.
