I also recall trying to cut a deal with my unit arms room people to get a full size M-16A2, because a friend of mine who was a ranger squad leader told me that anyone who carries anything other than a plain-vanilla M-16A2 was usually paid special attention to by snipers! my arms room people were very understanding, the told me "change your MOS!"

The M4 isn't "less accurate" then a fullsize M16, it simply won't make such a big difference on lets say, 50 to 150 yards..
I'd prefer a M4 over an M16 anyday, it's more mobile, less weight to carry, and it can be stored much easier inside the vehicle..

An longer barrel makes a weapon more accurate, true.. but it only means fractions of MOA.. for a sharpshooter a reason to take the longer one, but an AR variant simply isn't ment to be a sniperrifle .. (maybe a designated marksman rifle.. but not more than that)

In stress situations an M4 is much nicer to have.. The length, weight and (your) foreward grip make it much more manouverable, thus making it more effective then a long M16. And in stress situations, that little bit of MOA is lost anyway, because your probably breathing like hell, scared shitless and in a uncomfortable shooting position.

The lighter weight also makes it easier to shoot in an upright position (standing), because your arms don't get tired that fast, and the weight balance is more to the back.

(And yes, I'm not military, but I shoot DSR (Dynamic Service Rifle) with a full length, uncompensated sabre defence XR41 (HK G3 clone..) topping the scales at 6,7 kg (incl. bipod, scope and 20rd .308 magazine) and shot a friends XR15 often (civil M4))

Thanks for explaining it Cracker, I was hoping someone would be able to sort it out for me. And hey norge your stuff does look way cool man! I just felt like since I was not expected to get into a firefight, my superiors thought I did not need as accurate a weapon as, say, an infantryman. Of course we medics also could not have bayonets or hand grenades (except for colored smoke and hand launched flares) because of Geneva Convention.

Just so you know, Norge has one of those Vietnam era M-16A1 carbines. Though I think it's a air soft rifle but I'm not sure.

Thanks for clarification! I guess I need to pay closer attention to stuff I'm looking at but was doing a bunch of things at once while looking at the pics. I actually thought that the pic was of a norway infantryman with some family shots thrown in as well.

Cool stuff norge! Of course no collection is complete without at least one copy of the infamous and ubiquitous cold war weapon called the M-202 FLASH (Flame Assault SHoulder weapon) a little horror which was depicted on the movie "commando" and which featured four tubes which fired WP rockets guaranteed to give the crews of soft-skinned armored vehicles a very bad day! And of course what collection would be complete beyond that without a copy of the infamous Soviet-era Spetsnaz blade launcher!

My mistake guys, I stated that the warheads were WP on the M202 but they are actually a different sort of nasty-ness producing equally frightening effects. There is a wealth of info on this particular beast on the internet. My apologies for the error.
