The top picture is actually a pic of Prototype MRE's!!
They tried that metal packaging and I think they dented up/rusted too easily.
I have a pic here in the bunch of one open.
Stay tuned my MREinfo brothers (and sisters too!).

I want to make a quick comment here - thankyou so much guys for all the amazing information all of you have contributed over the years - this is nothing just a ton of photos that I can will gradually follow up with the rather limited info I have with each photo - but you guys have found stuff I never coulda found or known on my own. And it is all collaborated into this fantastic niche' - I really feel at home here ... heheh!
