ak70g2: yes there are music festivals and a lot to see up here :D :D
best time for sigthtsing are summer time, winther are hard up here
if you want to be in the mountains it will need big preparations.
yea the outdoor survival dude is in norway, but he down south of norway
it can be cold there to but it cant compete with the arctic circle :D

treesuit: no need of sleeping outside
but the sleeping bag you gott from me are issued for those themps :D
so it shouldnt be a problem, but if youre not used to sub zero inviroments
like north of norway no alcohol will help.
just in front of the fireplace in the house

cracker:bergen is a long way from me,many hours with driving or a fortune in plane.
your rigth about the langues we have, its hard to learn norwegian for some
since we have a few letters that only can be found in norway, denmark, sweden.

so if any of you show up il lett you stay indoors for shure, dont want to defrost you
i have frozen my feets and finger bad once on a arctic exersice and it hurts for weeks afther
so its nothing you want to try for shure

cheers from ken

"My" winter impression. Location is Southern Germany, between the Black Forrest and the Swabian Alb. Heigh is around 650 metres above sea level. Last night we got around 20cms of snow after it didn´t snow the last days, but it´s still snowing atm and I guess it´ll be more, soon:

Best thing you can do now is to stay indoors and not take a ride with either a plane (most airports in Germany are closed), a train (lots of problems, too) or a car (many accidents).

I volunteered for a 6 hrs drive last Monday at the snow storm we had:

You just need to have the right car and snow tires:

The right car doesn´t help you if you´ve got a truck stuck on the road and can´t get past it. Or people with the "wrong" cars slowing you down. ^^

Here in Massachusetts we've been fairly lucky so far this year. However as of today (Sunday, 27 December, 2010) we are getting slammed with a heavy winter storm which should reach its peak at about 9:00pm tonight. We live in an area which is beautiful with a fresh coat of snow, but as I have severe cabin fever issues, I tend to feel trapped and very restless when severe winter weather hits especially at night. I will say this though; few places are as beautiful too me as the Quabbin Reservoir Reservation with fresh snow recently fallen!
