No, didn’t open it. Just hung it up on pegboard with a clip.
To remind me of the glory days of getting the little bottle of goodness.

Cleaning up and organizing your rations can be time consuming.. but you may find a RAFCO in the process.. I rejoiced with some well stored 1993 MRE snacks. Well, crackers were salted 1985s, rest 1993 DoP.
Brown pack to left of RAFCO is my only one left.. freeze dried powdered strawberries. Saving to put on RCW strawberry oatmeal one day.
Also in pic 4 generations of RCW iced tea. 89, 92, 96, 98.
Not sure if I'm going to trade or film this RAFCO, but still wanted to share here. Ya never know what you'll find digging around!

Put the rafco in the freezer! Everyone loves old rations that are climate controlled, rafcos are rare now, put it in the freezer for 20 years and you might have the only one thats edible to a standard left!

Nice Steve.
I never understood why they went away from the salted crackers. They were great.
It is a field ration after all. A little salt shouldn’t be that big of a concern. Or could it lol

had to put up the pork patty, beef patty and the not so famous potato patty
this is a cooked pork patties not patty this is from 1983
this the potato patty this is from 1983.the USMC used to add the catsup pouch in the potato pouch and add water back in the days.
this is cooked beef patties this one is from 1987-have only seen this blue date stamp on 1987 items.
note the shape on the patties!
this cooked beef patties I think was from 1985 or 86,the foil have loosened a bit I know this mre was poorly stored before I got it
note the shape of the patties!
cheers ken. feel free to add vintage mre, rcw, lrrp items and info in this tread

Thank you!
Been digging stuff out and wanted to show my old prototype MRE. This thing is a beaut, cannot wait to evaluate the contents.. likely not to actually open and taste them.. at least not yet. The more I learn, the less I know - and this stuff is such treasure! Gotta do it right!
