Yes, on that note I noticed in some publications that the ACU's the Army currently wears is in a bit of a change especially for soldiers in the A-stan. There is a slight color change in the ACU pattern that has a warm brown town to it than the regular gray-green color scheme. Still digital, but has a hint of brown to match the surroundings.
To me it still looks dumb,

ACU is simply not a desert pattern but an urban pattern, the old US desert patterns were much better then ACU in desert surroundings..
But the problem in afghanistan is, that there is a heckload of desert, rocks, gravel or sand.. ánd.. fields full with opium roses (how do you call those in english?), cannabis, and large bushes that surround river beds, and complete vegetation arround rivers/lakes/springs..

That's why the USMC fielded their new desert MARPAT....
And I read an article in the ARMY times that said the ARMY is considering if not already using MULTICAM for the troops in Afghanistan.

Bypah,
Yes, I saw that article and read about it. The MULTICAM design is much better than the ACU. It was proven in other scientific journals that MULTICAM blended into the surroundings much more than Woodland pattern camoflauge or the ACU. It works in just about every environment and I did see some special operations guys wear that pattern over desert cammies in the A-stan. Why the Army didn't go to that I'll never know.
Now if they can just get rid of all that velcro......

WOW! In the last photo it looks like a sea version of the German flecktarn camo. The pattern is somewhat similar except they throw two kinds of blue into it. What else do they have?
