Nice find housil, it's the first one of that kind I see.

BTW, do the companies that product a "Esbit-like" stove give any money to Esbit?
I know it's a 70 years old patent but who knows?
Mine is marked "DRP u.Ausl. Patente" standing for "patented in Germany & abroad".

Look at the maker's site: http://www.esbit.de/www/index.php?id=74 it seems that the logo on my cooker is not really recent :?

I´m pretty old and can´t remeber to the red/blue box...

Is the price label still in "Reichsmark" ?! :D
LOL
no and the cooker is MODERN : its lid has already got indentations
See different ESBIT, military (Bundeswehr) version, left w/ white box and civilian right w/ red box

But it´s not the package different only:

The fuel bars are also. The civilian one´s are smaller and not packed waterproof again.

There is also a bigger size avialable:

I love that ESBIT - Tommy cooker stuff. German EPa´s entree´s are designed to be warmed up straight on them, also the canteen can be warmed up on the cooker to make tea, coffee etc... but there is one "handicap".
It stinks "horrible" if you extenguish them. So you have to burn it down complet and it´s not made to be used in tents!!

These larger tablets are the ones that we get in the U.S. via commercial resources. As a heating source, they're kind of expensive at 50¢ per tablet, but they do get the job done. The current packaging is a bit of a pain because you can only fit 4 of the tabs inside of the Esbit.

If your reference is to the commercially available look-alikes, not a chance. The ones that are marketed in the US are all made/copied in China. There's one company that has a copy and even markets tabs that look similar in size to the Esbit tablets, and they're often sold in sporting goods and military surplus stores as "Esbit" stoves.

Those look kind of interesting. Do they sit on a small "sterno" type can?

Yo, Kman, an idea for you: put a section about cookers on the site!

See swiss army issued "emergency cooker":

Containing a "burning paste": After use, just put the cover back on it to "asphyxiate" the flames. Not for single use only.

Also see a brand new UK cooker, never used :D
Hallo Housil,

A buddy of mine brought me two of the Swedish emergency cookers, happy me  . Do you know how long they last (by approximation)?

Thank you in advance.

Nawt.
