A total amount of 1800 servings.
Enough to feed me and my whole family for almost 2 years down in the basement. Three times a day

Don´t ask me why, it´s just for "to have them".

I love the basement of housil. Everything is so lovely displayed. Like a museum.

Iam happy to call housil my friend and so i stayed many times with him in this showroom.

My storage is not as nice as that of housil, and not so much

Unfortunately my only metal tray ration with: potatoes didn't survive a short battle with gravity
After that it also lost the fight mith me and my stomach

Thank you for the help on the date code. I was a little confused by all the numbers.

My post should have been more elaborate indeed.

Taste was alright actually. They were sweet, tasted like a sweet potato but not like a fresh one. With a mixed blend of 'military ration taste'. Kinda hard to describe. The texture of the potatoes was a little 'mashy', it still had the firm pieces but texture was softened. I guess from being stored in a tray for all those years.
Not a winner but good to eat.

For once I had a spoiled T-18 apple dessert, the apples were "dark" and had a "nasty" taste.

That's too bad. alsways a pitty.

I 'discovered' a spoiled t-18 scrambled eggs with turkey..something (I don't exactly recall it) in my collection once....

the smell prevented me from taking a picture for here and it ended up in the bin straight away! hmmpff... it made me gag when I got a good whiff of it and out went the tray.
For a split second I probably had a green shine on my face

I´m sure the "EST" number is not the date code, although I don´t know what "EST" means (it appears on many US ration items), perhaps someone here can help.

That metal tray was packed 0249 (September 5, 2000) by STAR FOOD PROCESSING, INC., "EST" is also 13018


That plastic tray was packed 5189 (July 8, 2005) by the WORNICK COMPANY, "EST" is 19076


Here some "EST"-numbers, note that the "EST" 13018 of Nawts tray ration produced by STAR FOOD PROCESSING, INC. is the same as from MRE entrees produced by STAR FOOD PROCESSING, INC. It seems that every company has its own "EST" :

I see now the Sooner state is well represented.
I have several T-rats. I had tasted cakes( old "tin" cans ones), scrambled eggs, potatoes and several mystery meats with gravy and they are awesome.
Except for the cakes that we ate straight up from the can the other ones I simply warmed them with hot water since they are in plastic trays.
I still have a few left of "mystery meats" with gravy left.
