I tried one of these a month or so back. Gave me terrible stomach issues. My urine also had a distinct, awful smell. At least the blueberry cobbler was pretty good. It's unfortunate that the rest of the meal is awful.

One of the Outdoor/Hunting stores here in Newfoundland does happen to sell MRE-Star rations, which aren't too bad. They happen to have some entrees that are different from what MRE's usually have.
Do they have a website? I would like to see if they ship outside of Newfoundland.

If you put yourself in the boots of a soldier who has been on a mountaintop in Wherethehellistan for two weeks, the #19 MRE is a reasonable substitute for a jalapeno bacon cheeseburger. If you are eating it within sight of a dozen different hamburger joints, no. The same can be said for anything else in an MRE: fix a similar portion of something yourself - and eat it two years from now. Odds are the appearance and flavor won't be quite as good.

These are not gourmet meals. They are subsistence foods meant to stay reasonably fresh in harsh conditions - with an attempt to remind a soldier of what he's used to eating.

They're called Coastal Outdoors.

Not sure if the MRE Star things are online. You could at least call them I guess.

Oh yes no doubt about that. It's all just a reasonable facsimile. Sorta like how Chef Boyardee is "pasta". Hahaha

Thanks for the link, but it seems MRE star rations are not on their website. But I'll call and ask them, maybe it's something they only sell on the side.

No problem. If you call them ask for Rick, he should be the best one to talk to. He usually works in the firearms section.

I just called them and they said their website was not updated, but they do carry MRE Star meals and they actually updated the site while I was on the phone with them. Here's the link...

Would you be so kind as to PM Dominic's contact info to me? Assuming he's alright with that, of course.
