So true. that's why the European mess kits all look the same. A big pot to be filled up to the rim with a good ol' tew or soup and a big chunk of hard bread. :mrgreen: :mrgreen: :mrgreen:
Believe me even the doughboys in WWI and the GI's in WW2 were used to more stew tan soups that's why the mess kits are flat.
Plenty of meat ,spam and taters. :mrgreen: :mrgreen: ,washed down with a cup of joe'.

The Allies in WW1 (front line troops) ate a lot of canned corned beef and hard tack (biscuit).
In that respect, the German troops had a better diet, hot chow daily.

The germans lived better too, concrete reinforced bunkers and trenches!
