The 4 man compo packs were a surprise to me in the Gulf in 91. I had a Navy EOD unit close to my Coast Guard base and I was able to acquire 7 boxes of them still sealed and sent them home. My Wife stored them in a closet after she and the kids opened a case and found the candy/chocolate cans. unfortunately I did not know then about proper storage and the Pilchards BLEW their tops later and made an ungodly smelly mess.
