kman wrote:And BTW Paul, that's a good tip on finding NATO rations on ebay. If you can read a little German and/or French, try searching these sites for "ration", "rcir", or "einmannpackung":
http://www.ebay.de
http://www.ebay.fr
And as always, if you need some help reading the sites, just start here:
http://babelfish.altavista.com
and let the fish do the translating for you!
You´ll find the german rations as "EPA" 3-4 pages of results !

Thanks for the tip, Zeiti! I've been wanting to get my hands on some German rations for a while but with the value of the dollar against the euro right now (and with shipping costs!), they're pretty expensive for us in the US.

kman wrote:Hey Jenn - so how do you break up one MRE into two meals? Do you just eat half of eveything and save the rest? Sounds like that could get messy.
I'm not sure how I would break an MRE up into lunch and dinner, but I think breakfast and lunch would be easy - just eat the crackers/wheat bread and spread for breakfast and then the main entree and dessert for lunch.
That's kinda what I do. I have the crackers/spread/bread (or snack when available) for one meal, then have the main dish, side item and dessert for dinner.
Hey Kman

I figure they will let females in the Infantry, by the time that little girl is 18. She looks like an excellent candidate, to be a Grunt. LOL

In the early 90s a guy in the Shotgun news used to sell them and AR magazines. Bought a few of each back then. Except for a time in the mid to late 90s when USGov MREs were hard to find, been eating them on and off.

223 - yes, it seems like the govt. started cracking down on commercial reselling of MREs in the early to mid-90's. But once Ebay came along, there wasn't much they could do.
Oh sure, they tried. At one point a few years ago, they even managed to get all the MRE auctions shut down. But that only lasted a week or so and then they were back up.

In the early '90s, the CID at Bragg cracked down on Soldiers selling them downtown. I heard it was because somebody got caught selling pallets of MRE's to some guy in Spring Lake. Just what I heard.
