Yes, I agree that that lends credibility to the fact that the guy bailed out of the plane and landed safely but the part about some of the money washing ashore along the columbia river 9 years later has still got me in wonder.
It also describes the parachute as being a later model 1940's vintage round version. That's pretty odd?

I have'nt studied enough. What was the distance between the known bills found on the river bank, and the recently found chute. There was something also about Mr. Cooper having in his possesion, 4 chutes. I see "smoke screens".

I just heard a small snippet, on radio. "FBI says old chute found by kids has nothing to do with Cooper". Still, does anyone know what the proximity between the chute, and the old bills? I guess it's the truth, since thats what the FBI says. LOL

Specifically what he said was, the one they found in the field was made of silk, and the one he gave to Cooper was made of nylon. Hence he is absolutely 100% sure it isn't the same one. That sounds pretty persuasive to me.

Dave, if I recall the older stories right, there was a considerable distance between this (silk) parachute and the find of the money.

Since they know the bill numbers, and none of those bills have ever turned up in circulation, it seems to me that it's very unlikely he survived. Why steal $200,000 just to throw some in a river bank and keep the rest in a box somewhere?

During WW-2, there were many thousands of military planes being shuttled all over. Lots of them crashed, many just 'Disappeared'.
Hardly a year goes by that someone doesn't discover an old bomber that crashed long ago, sometimes with remains, sometimes not. Many of the crew bailed out.....
Silk, Round chute.... WW-2 era.......Or before. Nylon/Rayon was brand new then, but was used after the ww2 era.
Bad country to bail out in, whoever it was.
