Sr 89 Since i got it completely by accident, thought it was a Sr 92 i was buying. Only one i have ever seen.
The Main meals are canned and not freeze dried, and it isnt Rsp!
LOL. Round of applause for your accidental score. And I agree. The canned rations do look sick

Norge, your prototype MRE is different than mine. Pretty sure yours has smokes. Mine has a thin metal inner box that opens outward..
Gotta get to my 1944 C rat case to pull a couple b's out.. - that thing is a beaut lemme find a pic around here where I bought it. Got some canned smokes, oldest from 1880s.
Some of my K rat units.
That food packet assault is one of 3 in my collection. Reviewed one and its just the wrappers- other 2 sealed. That one there has norge's name on it for his collection.

Steve, what the heck! Unexpected! I'm a big TNG fan! Favorite television show hands down. I wonder where those rations were available?
Just by looking at the pic... This was from the TNG era and being from 1992 would put it on season 5-6 (Season 5 is THE holy grail for TNG Trek - See episodes "Darmok" and the epitome of Trek imo "The Inner Light"). I love how the ration is designed to look like the TNG LCARS (Library Computer Access Retrieval System)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LCARS interface of the Enterprise D terminals. Fun little fact: Each of those LCARs terminal panels you see in an episode were created one by one by the designer for each episode depending on the need... I always found that amazing that he made each on like plexiglass with cutouts. You can also see Philips screws holding them in place on some of the shots.
What a cool thing to know even existed! I want to know! Why these rations existed and where they were sold. For the why, I'd assume in the same reason why "Zombie", "Fallout" or other "Novelty" rations are available today.
Man that's crazy interesting.
For my "coolest" ration. I'm gonna go with my with WW2 Canadian "Food Container" and my 1941Scho-Ka-Kola still with chocolate. Love those things. I wish I would of bought 2 of the Food Containers when they were available there for a hot minute. Little pic of my oldies. I think "old" stuff is the coolest. If/when I can get some ww2 K rations and/or C rations those will be my holy grail.

... but i have seen my share of William Shatner episodes
