Do any of y'all think we've reached, like, "Peak Ration" on eBay?
I'm not talking about the high prices of MREs (which are obviously re: COVID), but pretty much anything of interest, if and when it is posted, sells for an extraordinary amount? Or, doesn't sell because it is listed at such a ridiculously high price?
Some of the bids and number of bids make this a very different hobby than it was several years ago.

Yeah, but then as old smokey said that the price was rations have gone up for several years, one of those reasons is hyperinflation using worthless paper printed dollars and using a peice of plastic called a credit card with no physical money to back up what you have in your digital account, now about the price jacking up on Ebay besides what I've listed above the vintage MREs have gone up in price because of pepole that don't know what those MREs or rations are worth

The only way to collect without destroying your wallet and getting yourself in the doghouse with your wife is to start buying and selling imo.
An example... I’m not that into video games but when I was a wee lad I used to enjoy the Sega Megadrive (Genesis for you USA lads). A few years ago I guess I got to that age where I fancied a few games for nostalgic value to play once and a while and keep on my shelf... I was shocked to find out games you couldn’t give away 5-10 years ago are now worth a mint. I decided rather than give up on collecting a few I’d start buying and selling them. Ended up making a business out of it.
Same with rations. I think Steve1989 is to blame for ration prices

I mean, I got into ration collecting because of steve and I think the same must be said for many many new collectors. Anyway, prices are high and the only way I found to actually get the kind of pieces I wanted was to buy and sell and trade. I don’t just search eBay, I message anyone selling army stuff and ask them, on eBay, surplus stores, old ex service guys in the pub, you name it, I’ve thought of it.
Sure some people charge silly money on eBay for things, but money talks at the end of the day. If no one buys it they will have to lower their price if they really do want to sell it. If not they’re obviously selling them so I don’t get the butthurt, apart from old boomers whining the world isn’t the same anymore. Improvise, adapt and overcome.

well I'm not talking bad about steve1989 but yes he is to blame for the ration prices and thanks for the other ideas for obtaining rations I'll start that instead of ebay
