Also paying more sometimes does not mean your getting a great boot, could be your getting a crappy boot.

To each is own but the point is what would most people use if they had to "bug out" or get somehwere in an emergency. Sometimes just jumping in the family vehicle isn't an option and you might have to load up a rucksack and hike to a safe place. Therefore what would you use if you havd to hike out?

I feel you should always be wearing shoes/boots of some kind you can walk a good distance in, i dont carry extra boots in my kit, but all my shoes have the insoles i mentioned as they help pretty much any shoe/boot

A Jerven-duk would probably be great to have when you need to bug out.

I did hear that SNUGPAK is much lighter and expands easier when compressed for a long time, as for warmth I have a jungle model that I use in warmer weather. It's very comfortable.
