I got stuck in a Nevada blizzard once when they closed the highway. I holed up in a Winnemucca casino hotel. In the restaurant/bar they were featuring a Winnemucca Belly Warmer drink. Just what I needed!
It consisted of a mug of hot cider, a splash of Cinnamon Schnapps, and a generous shot of Brandy. Damn that was good! (Cinnamon Schnapps is not real cinnamon; it's more like the "cinnamon" flavor of candy or chewing gum - bright red and spicy sweet) When I make this drink, I stir some real cinnamon spice into the hot cider first, then add brandy. Mo betta.
Around the campfire, I just use packets of powdered cider mix, hot water, and brandy. Not as good as fresh ingredients, but still a fine Belly Warmer.
