do you have some cool ration pictures?
Hi guys,

here are some pics from early dark brown MRE entrees (1982-1986):

The unmatched “Beans with Tomato Sauce”, I think one of the best MRE entrees, from two different producers (why they rejected them? :( )

Image

Here the six different species of “Nut Cakes”, all packed by “Sterling Bakery” in 1982 and 1983. In my opinion these were the best MRE cakes ever produced (they were juicy compared to the “modern” dry pound cakes):

Here once more “Nut Cakes” from different producers:

Finally five different main entrees, my favourite is “Beef, Diced, with Gravy”:

Sorry norge, but currently I have no rations for trade!

Great pics, mreheater72! Now don't you want to open them up and see what the food looks like after 20+ years? :-)

I'll bet the nutcakes at least are still good...

nice!!!!

Today I opened a Fruitcake packed 1985.

Here are some photos:

Here original packed (cardboard box was missing):

Here the dating 11. January 1985:

Here the cake without pouch:

The appearance and smell was identical to those of my memories from the eighties. I broke a little piece, chew it and spit it, although I can’t detect any differences in flavour to a fresh cake :D (but in spite of this I was not bold enough, to eat the whole cake :( , but it is still in my desk!). The condition of the cake is amazing, after about 22 years :D !
