Today I tried this with a German EPa grapefruit beverage powder.
Two satchets and two glasses of water
Guess which one was carbonated?!
The "foam" calmed down after a while
I had it with my
Typ 6 pork stew
The last time I had EPa grapefruit beverage powdered drink it was awefull. Very "sour" so I kept it in my mind for the last 25 years...
But today - eithert I have change my taste or they have changed their recipe - I (almost) liked it. I liked that one made from carbonated water even more as it tasted like a Welsh (or any other) carbonated soda.

Interesting!
Maybe once I start to know all the powdered drinks and get a few extras I'll start experimenting too. For now I'll stick to the instructions, just for the sake of it

At least now I know the results won't necessarily be worse!

I wonder what a carbonated cocoa beverage powder drink would taste like?

That would probably be absolutely awful though

It doesn't sound very good at first thought, but you never know! Heck, if you need some cocoa powder to try it, I'll send you some if you just promise to document the end results and share!

You can still buy vanilla coke from an "American" shop here in Ireland. As for carbonated chocolate beverage powder, that one I will not be trying.
I don't like the idea of those grapefruit drinks either

actually, some ex-service members I know used to talk about taking the Pop Rocks candy in the field to try and have a Field Cola. They had mixed results, but with the flavored beverage powders, may be an avenue to look at....
of course, with the advent of new devices like the Soda Stream, (which plays off the old siphon bottle tech...but I digress) it may not be long before field sodas are a possibility....
