I want to thank y'all for the responses. This truly is a great board with some good people.

Somebody out there has one that they are dying to trade or sell me. I could go eBay and pay $16.00 for a corned beef hash meal but I am hoping for a little less. Help a brother with his craving.

What years have them I think I might have a corned beef hash meal I'll need to look again but what years?

Any of the corned beef hash menus would have them.

Are they that good? I've never had one before.

Yep, the oatmeal cookie bar is a classic MRE treat! I rate it just below the chocolate covered oatmeal cookie.

Hmm I guess I got to find an old MRE and give it a try. I think the old MCW's also came with one?

You are correct, the older ration cold weather's had two in each lunch/dinner menu. In the early RCW's each oatmeal bar came packed along side a granola bar, I have found that the granola bar sometimes effects the taste of the oatmeal bar. In the later RCW's, I believe 1998 onward, the two oatmeal cookie bars came packed together side by side, so no worries about "bleeding" granola bars. The granola bars in the later RCW's are also more flat, about the size of a credit card but much thicker!

Thank you for the info. I'll definitely got to try the oatmeal bar now. I think finding an old MRE with an oatmeal bar in it would be a lot easier than finding the MCW's :)

I've always loved the Compressed Oatmeal Cookie Bars too!

There are two different kinds.. and they are both amazing!

Check this out, the rectangular block ended up turning into this flatter square one by my guess was 1996 or 97 - by 1998, Wornick RCW's had the change. They are ever so slightly different in flavor - almost even better by 1998.

I think all my photos are uploaded out of order here - but you get the idea! :)

You can get Oatmeal Cookie Bars in MRE's, 1998 Wornick LRP's, all RCW's have two of them in the B component - and I must say.. there are many reasons why the RCW is my favorite Military Ration of all time - and that Oatmeal Cookie block is one of them.

Long shelf life - nostalgic & unique mild shortening flavor with that perfect sweetness and texture. Good lord I am looking at an RCW Oatmeal Cookie/Granola bar from 1992 right now and it's up on one of my trays right next to a freeze dried potato patty from like 34 years ago. I haven't eaten anything yet today... 8)

Don't some current issue MCW's have oatmeal cookie bars? I've never had one but I am sure that some of them have those cookie bars.

EDIT: It appears I am wrong :( Some menus have shortbread cookies and menu 7 has the chocolate covered cookie bar.
